Grammarly Review 2026: Pricing, Plans and Who It Fits
Our Grammarly review for 2026, in short: Grammarly is a writing assistant that checks spelling, grammar and tone and, on paid plans, rewrites sentences and detects plagiarism and AI-generated text. The Free plan costs $0 with 100 AI prompts a month. Pro is $144 a year (an average of $12 a month) or $30 on monthly billing, with 2,000 AI prompts a month and a 7-day free trial. It improves writing you already have and is not a keyword or SEO tool, so it suits writers and small teams more than content-planning workflows.

What Grammarly does
Grammarly is a writing assistant that checks and rewrites text wherever you type. It is a different kind of tool from the SEO and marketing platforms elsewhere in our reviews: it does not research keywords or plan content, it improves the writing you already have. Based on its plans page, the Pro features are:
- Core checks (all plans): spelling and grammar corrections and tone detection. The Free plan also includes 100 AI prompts a month.
- Rewriting and tone (Pro): "rewrite full sentences with a click", adjust your writing tone, and "write fluently in English".
- Suggestions and checks (Pro): "unlimited personalized suggestions", inclusive-language and citation-consistency checks, and detection of plagiarism and AI-generated text.
- AI prompts (Pro): 2,000 AI prompts per member per month, which Grammarly's support article describes as twice the Premium allowance.
- Team features (Pro): style guides, brand tones, knowledge share, snippets and usage analytics, with the comparison table listing 2 user groups, 1 style guide and 1 brand tone. The support article says Pro supports team functionality for up to 149 members.
- Where it works: the site's navigation lists apps and extensions for Windows and Mac desktops, Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and iPhone, iPad and Android, plus a Grammarly Docs editor.
Grammarly says it is "trusted by over 40 million people and 50,000 organizations", which is the vendor's own claim and one we have not verified. It also notes that its Enterprise plan is available through "Superhuman Go". If you are a current Premium subscriber, the plans page says switching to Pro cancels Premium with a prorated refund, and that Pro includes all the Premium features plus team features that were previously only on the Business plan. We have not tested the suggestions or the AI-text detector. Detectors of this kind are not perfectly reliable in general, so treat a detection result as one signal and not as proof.

Sources: grammarly.com/plans (plan names, features and the $12 Pro figure) and Grammarly's support article on Pro pricing (monthly, quarterly and yearly prices). Both captured October 13, 2026. Prices checked October 13, 2026. Prices in USD.
A note on the Pro price: the plans page shows Pro as "$12 USD" with a "Start 7-day Free Trial" button and "$0 payment today", but the text we captured does not say which billing period the $12 refers to. Grammarly's support article does: $30 per member per month, $60 per member per three months, or $144 per member per year, which it says averages $12 per member per month. That support page has no visible date, so check the figure at checkout. Grammarly also lists regional pricing in euros, pounds and Indian rupees, shown at checkout. The plans page notes a reminder email two days before the trial ends.
Seats and teams: per Learn about Grammarly Pro, Pro plans are billed as one payment for all seats, and additional seats for invited members are billed separately at standard rates, prorated for the rest of the billing period. Admins can invite Free, Premium and other Pro users, but Grammarly Business and Education users can't be invited at this time. Enterprise prices are not published.
What users say: ratings on review sites
| Review site | Rating | Reviews | Link |
|---|---|---|---|
| G2 | 4.7 / 5 | 14,076 | G2 |
| Capterra (listed as Grammarly Business) | 4.7 / 5 | 7,224 | Capterra |
| Trustpilot (grammarly.com) | 3.1 / 5 | 10,475 | Trustpilot |
Source: the three review-site pages linked above, read on October 13, 2026. The Capterra listing is titled "Grammarly Business" and may not cover the Free or individual Pro plans in the same way. Counts change daily.
Grammarly has by far the largest review counts of any tool in our batch: 14,076 on G2 and 7,224 on Capterra, both at 4.7 out of 5, plus 10,475 on Trustpilot at 3.1. As with the other tools, the business-software directories are warmer than Trustpilot, and we have not analyzed the review text to say why. Large review counts make the scores more stable, but they also include years of reviews written about earlier versions of the product and its pricing. Read the most recent reviews, especially anything on renewals and billing.
Pros and cons
Pros
- A real Free plan with spelling, grammar and tone checks and 100 AI prompts a month.
- Pro is published at $30 monthly, $60 quarterly or $144 yearly (an average of $12 a month), with a 7-day free trial.
- Works across desktop, browser, Microsoft Office, Google Docs and mobile, according to the site.
- Team features such as style guides and brand tones are included in Pro, not locked to a separate business tier.
- Very large review counts with 4.7 out of 5 on both G2 and Capterra.
Cons
- It improves writing; it does not do keyword research, content planning or SEO scoring.
- The $12 Pro price on the plans page needs the yearly commitment: monthly billing is $30 a month.
- Pro includes just 2 user groups, 1 style guide and 1 brand tone, so larger teams may need Enterprise, which has no published price.
- Trustpilot shows 3.1 out of 5 across more than 10,000 reviews, well below G2 and Capterra.
- AI-text and plagiarism detection are included, but we have not tested their accuracy.
- The billing period behind the plans page's $12 figure is only clear from a separate, undated support article.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Good fit: students, professionals and non-native English writers who write a lot of email, documents and reports and want a second pair of eyes everywhere they type; solo freelancers and editors who want tone and rewrite suggestions; small teams who want a shared style guide and brand tone without buying a content platform.
Skip it if: the Free plan already covers your needs, since its spelling, grammar and tone checks are included; you want a tool that plans, researches and drafts whole articles for SEO; you need more than 2 user groups, 1 style guide or 1 brand tone; or you would only use it for a month, in which case the $30 monthly price makes the yearly saving moot.
Questions to answer before paying:
- Is the Free plan enough? Try it for a few weeks and note which suggestions you actually wanted that it withheld.
- Which price period will you pay? Yearly averages $12 a month, monthly is $30 and quarterly is $60 for three months.
- Do you need the 2,000 monthly AI prompts, or would a general chat assistant you already pay for cover that?
- If you manage a team, do the user group, style guide and brand tone limits in Pro fit how your team works?

Verdict
Grammarly is the simplest of the tools we reviewed in this batch: a writing assistant with a real free plan, a published Pro price, and a clear job. Pro costs $144 a year ($12 a month on average) or $30 on monthly billing, and adds sentence rewrites, tone control, plagiarism and AI-text detection, 2,000 AI prompts a month and the basics of a team style guide. It is not an SEO or content-planning tool, so it complements the other reviews on this site and does not replace them. Review scores are strong on G2 and Capterra and weaker on Trustpilot. Start on the Free plan, use the 7-day Pro trial if you want the rewrites, and choose yearly billing only if you will use it for the whole year.
