Notion AI Review 2026: Plans, Credits and Who It Fits
Our Notion AI review for 2026, in short: Notion no longer sells its AI as a separate add-on. Free and Plus ($10 per member a month on yearly billing, $12 monthly) include only a trial of Notion AI, while Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes and Enterprise Search sit on Business at $20 per member on yearly billing ($24 monthly). Custom Agents, Workers and premium models draw on Notion credits at $10 per 1,000 on monthly billing. It suits teams already working inside Notion; the credit model and Business-only features make the real cost harder to predict. Ratings are 4.6 on G2 and 4.7 on Capterra, but 2.2 on Trustpilot.

What Notion AI does
Notion is a workspace for notes, documents, databases and projects, and Notion AI is the set of AI features inside it. Based on Notion's pricing page and help center, here is what the AI side includes:
- Notion Agent: an assistant you chat with inside Notion. Per the help center, it can create and edit pages and databases using context from your workspace and connected apps, and it has the same permissions you do. The pricing table describes it as "chat, generate, autofill, translate".
- AI Meeting Notes: transcribes a meeting and identifies key points and action items. The help center says you must be on Business or Enterprise; the desktop app needs version 4.7.0 or higher, and on a Mac, macOS 13 or later. You confirm that everyone in the meeting has consented to recording.
- Enterprise Search: searches your workspace and connected apps such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Drive and Jira, cites its sources, and lets you switch web search off. The pricing page labels it Beta; the help center says it is available on Business and Enterprise.
- Custom Agents: agents that run repetitive tasks on their own. The pricing page says "Free to try, then $10 per 1,000 monthly Notion credits."
- Research mode and Workers: both marked Beta on the pricing page; Workers "Requires Notion credits" and lets you extend Notion with custom code.
- Model choice: the help center lists Claude Sonnet 5, the newest GPT models, Gemini and Grok, plus Claude Fable 5.1 on Business and Enterprise only. Premium models spend Notion credits, and a workspace admin has to switch each one on.
We have not tested any of the features, so what follows describes plans and limits, not output quality.

Reading the numbers: the page headline says "Save up to 20% with yearly". From the figures it shows, yearly billing saves about 17% on both Plus ($10 against $12) and Business ($20 against $24), so 20% is not what these plans get. As an illustration of our own arithmetic, a five-person Business workspace comes to $100 a month on yearly billing or $120 on monthly billing, before any credits.
The AI catch: Notion AI is not a separate subscription any more. Free and Plus include only a "Trial of Notion AI", and the comparison table marks Notion Agent, Meeting Notes and Research mode "Limited Trial" on both. The full features start on Business, so a team that wants AI pays $20 or $24 per member, not $10 or $12. The help center says Business and Enterprise include a usage allowance for features such as Notion Agent, but gives no size for it.
Notion credits: credits are an add-on for Business and Enterprise, shared across the workspace, and they run Custom Agents, Workers, premium AI models and extra AI usage beyond the allowance. Monthly credits cost $10 per 1,000 and reset each month; annual credits cost $13 per 1,000, are paid upfront and expire at renewal. Unused credits do not carry over in either case. Credit use per task is not stated on the pages we read. The product page lists "Custom Agents" among the Business features, while the pricing page attaches credits to them, so ask Notion what is included before you budget.
Data and refunds: Notion says it will not use your data to train its models unless you opt in, and that contracts with its AI subprocessors prohibit training on customer data. It states 30-day retention with LLM providers for non-Enterprise plans and zero retention for Enterprise, and says Notion AI can support HIPAA compliance on Enterprise; those are vendor claims we have not verified. The refund policy is a full refund if you downgrade within three days of monthly signup or 30 days of annual signup.
What we could not confirm: the size of the Business usage allowance; credit consumption per task; the exact limits of the "Limited Trial" on Free and Plus (the table cell for Enterprise Search was not clear in our capture).
What users say: ratings on review sites
| Review site | Rating | Reviews | Link |
|---|---|---|---|
| G2 | 4.6 / 5 | about 13,900 | G2 |
| Capterra | 4.7 / 5 | 2,835 | Capterra |
| Trustpilot | 2.2 / 5 | 438 | Trustpilot |

G2 and Capterra agree at 4.6 and 4.7 on large counts, while Trustpilot shows 2.2 from 438 reviews. We have not analyzed the review text. Trustpilot's own auto-generated summary of 88 recent reviews says most reviewers were unhappy and mentions subscription costs, unexpected charges and difficult cancellation, and an app that can feel complicated, buggy and slow; that is Trustpilot's summary of its reviewers, not our finding. If you do pay, check the cancellation and refund terms above.
Pros and cons
Pros
- AI sits inside the workspace, so Notion Agent can work with your pages and databases using your existing permissions.
- Free and Plus include a trial of Notion AI, and Plus is free for students and educators with a school email.
- Business adds AI Meeting Notes and Enterprise Search across apps such as Slack, Google Drive and Jira, with sources cited.
- Model choice includes Claude, GPT, Gemini and Grok models.
- G2 shows 4.6 from about 13,900 reviews and Capterra 4.7 from 2,835.
Cons
- Full Notion AI starts on Business at $20 per member on yearly billing ($24 monthly), double the Plus price.
- Credits for Custom Agents, Workers and premium models are an extra $10 to $13 per 1,000, and consumption per task is not published.
- Several AI features are Beta, and the Business usage allowance is not quantified.
- Trustpilot shows 2.2 from 438 reviews, far below G2 and Capterra.
- Premium models must be switched on by an admin.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Good fit: teams that already keep documents, wikis and project databases in Notion and want an assistant that works on that content. Business suits a small team that will use AI Meeting Notes and Enterprise Search weekly. Solo users who like Notion can stay on Free or Plus, try the AI trial, and see whether it justifies moving a whole workspace up.
Skip it if: you do not use Notion for your documents, since the AI is tied to the workspace; you only want a chat assistant, where a general assistant may cost less (see our ChatGPT Plus vs Claude Pro vs Gemini Advanced comparison); you need a predictable monthly bill for agent automation, given the credit model; or you need only meeting transcripts, where a dedicated tool may be enough.
Questions to answer before paying: how many members need AI (every one is billed at the Business rate); whether you will use Meeting Notes, Enterprise Search or Custom Agents; how much credit your agent workflows may use; and whether you can try the Plus-level trial first.

Verdict
Notion AI in 2026 is a bundle of AI features inside Notion's plans, not a separate product: Free and Plus ($0 and $10 per member a month on yearly billing, $12 on monthly) carry a trial, and the full set of Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes and Enterprise Search starts on Business at $20 yearly or $24 monthly. Credits add $10 to $13 per 1,000 for agents, Workers and premium models. Review scores on G2 (4.6) and Capterra (4.7) are strong, and Trustpilot's 2.2 points to billing and cancellation frustration. If you already run your team in Notion, trial the AI on a Plus or Free workspace, then price Business for every member who needs it, plus a credit budget. If you do not use Notion for your documents, the AI is not a reason to start.
