Canva Pro Review 2026: Pricing, AI Limits and Who It Fits
Our Canva Pro review for 2026, in short: Canva is a browser-based design editor, and Pro is its paid plan for one person. On Canva's US pricing page it costs US$144 per year, against a free plan and Business at US$250 per person per year; Teams is closed to new sign-ups. Pro adds 100 GB of storage, five Brand Kits, a background remover and a larger premium library, and raises the monthly AI allowance to 200 Premium or 20 Ultra uses. It suits people who design regularly on their own; teams need Business, and the AI cap and unpublished add-on prices make heavy AI use hard to budget. Ratings are 4.7 on G2 and Capterra and 4.0 on Trustpilot.

What Canva Pro does
Canva is a browser-based design editor with a large template library. Pro is the paid tier for one person; it removes most of the limits of the free plan and adds a branded-design toolkit. Based on Canva's pricing and Pro pages, here is what the plan includes:
- Templates and stock: the pricing page lists 3.6M+ templates and 141M+ premium photos, videos, graphics and audio on Pro, against 1.6M+ templates and 4.7M+ stock items on Free. Canva's separate Pro page uses a different figure ("100M+ premium"), so treat the counts as approximate.
- Canva AI tools: the Pro page lists Magic Layers, Magic Resize, Magic Animate, Magic Write, Translate, Magic Insights and Magic Formulas, plus a feature it calls "Canva AI 2.0". The pricing page does not use the older "Magic Studio" label.
- Background remover: photo and video background removal, which the pricing page shows as unavailable on Free and included on Pro without using the AI allowance (fair use applies).
- Brand Kits: five on Pro, each holding colors, fonts and logos, against one with three colors on Free.
- Publishing extras: social content scheduling, CMYK export and up to five personalized share links.
- Storage: 100 GB on Pro and 5 GB on Free.
Canva's Pro page also says its premium library includes more than 65,000 photos from Alamy and over 100,000 cinematic videos and audio tracks from Artlist. Those are the vendor's own counts and we have not verified them. We have not tested any of the tools, so what follows describes plans and limits, not design quality.

Source: canva.com/pricing, captured October 13, 2026. Prices checked October 13, 2026. The page says prices exclude tax and shows a Monthly/Yearly toggle with "Save from 16%" on yearly billing. Quoted wording is from the page.
Reading the numbers: the yearly figures were the ones we could read from the page. Averaged over twelve months, US$144 is US$12 a month for Pro and US$250 is about US$20.83 for Business; those are our arithmetic, not a price Canva prints. We could not capture the monthly-billing price from the toggle. Third-party price guides publish different Pro figures (one lists US$180 per year or US$18 a month), which may reflect another date or region, so confirm the amount shown at checkout in your own country.
AI allowance: the pricing page says Standard, Premium and Ultra AI tools share one monthly allowance that resets each month, and that Pro is "10x more AI than Canva Free". During a free trial the allowance is the same as Free, and you get the full amount when the paid plan starts. Canva also lists AI Pass, a recurring monthly add-on for Pro and Business users who subscribe online, and AI top-ups; the page captured does not give their prices.
Teams and trials: Canva Teams is no longer available for new sign-ups. The page offers a free trial of Pro and Business and says you are not billed during it, but the trial length is not stated on the pages we read. Business bills per accepted team member, adjusted monthly, or quarterly on annual subscriptions. Pro is for one person only: the page says "Only one person can use a Canva Pro account."
What we could not confirm: the monthly-billing price; the length of the free trial; the price of AI Pass and top-ups; what "fair use limits" means in practice for background removal and Standard AI; and whether student, nonprofit or education discounts apply to your account (the page says K-12 education organizations and nonprofits get most premium features free).
What users say: ratings on review sites
| Review site | Rating | Reviews | Link |
|---|---|---|---|
| G2 | 4.7 / 5 | about 7,700 | G2 |
| Capterra | 4.7 / 5 | 13,458 | Capterra |
| Trustpilot | 4.0 / 5 | 7,736 | Trustpilot |
Source: the three review-site pages linked above, read on October 13, 2026. These are ratings for Canva overall, not Pro alone. G2 blocks scripted fetches; its count comes from the page's structured data, while the page title says "4500+ Reviews", so spot-check that figure in a browser. Counts change daily.
G2 and Capterra both show 4.7 on large counts, and Trustpilot shows 4.0. We have not analyzed the review text. Trustpilot's auto-generated summary of 4,615 recent reviews describes reviewers as having a great experience and mentions templates and ease of use; that is Trustpilot's summary, not our finding. Because the scores cover free and paid users together, they say little about whether Pro's AI allowance is enough for a heavy user.
Pros and cons
Pros
- A free plan with 5 GB, 1.6M+ templates and 4.7M+ stock items, so you can try the editor before paying.
- Pro adds a background remover, five Brand Kits, 100 GB of storage and a 141M+ premium library for US$144 a year, per the pricing page.
- Publishing extras such as scheduling and CMYK export are part of the plan.
- Business bills only for team members who accept an invitation.
- G2 shows 4.7 out of 5 and Capterra 4.7 from 13,458 reviews.
Cons
- Pro is for one person only; a team has to move to Business at US$250 per person a year, because Teams is closed to new sign-ups.
- The AI allowance is capped: 200 Premium or 20 Ultra uses a month on Pro, and the trial uses the Free allowance.
- AI Pass and top-up prices are not shown, so heavy AI use has an uncertain cost.
- Third-party sources quote different Pro prices from the vendor page, and we could not capture the monthly price.
- Trustpilot shows 4.0, below G2 and Capterra.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Good fit: freelancers, small-business owners, creators and marketers who make social graphics, presentations, simple video and branded documents themselves. The Brand Kits, background remover and resize tool are aimed at people who repeat the same designs across formats. If you already hit the free plan's 20-use AI cap or its missing background remover, Pro is the step the pricing page points to.
Skip it if: the free plan already covers your needs; you need several people on one account (Pro is single-user, so look at Business); your work is detailed vector illustration or print production beyond what we can judge from documentation; or you want generative images as the main output, where a dedicated image generator such as those in our best AI image generators roundup may suit you better.
Questions to answer before paying: how many AI generations you use in a month compared with 200 Premium or 20 Ultra uses; whether you need the background remover or Brand Kits every week; how many people need access; and what total, with tax, appears at checkout in your region.

Verdict
Canva Pro in 2026 is a single-user upgrade at US$144 a year on Canva's US pricing page, with a free plan below it and Business at US$250 per person a year above it. The extras are concrete: a background remover, five Brand Kits, 100 GB and a much larger premium library. The scores are strong on G2 (4.7) and Capterra (4.7 from 13,458). The complications are the monthly AI allowance, unpublished add-on prices and a monthly price we could not capture. If you design regularly, start on the free plan, note how quickly you reach its 20 AI uses, and then start the Pro trial to see whether the larger allowance and background remover change your workflow. If more than one person needs access, price Business before you commit.
